First Sunday

Sunday, January 5th
“Civil Discourse”

We all know how hard it is to have productive conversations in our polarized and post-truth era.  And most of us know the solution: Listen for Understanding.  But no one tells us how we can control ourselves and stay within a conversation when our discussion partners have been carefully trained to “push our buttons.”  How can we maintain our composure and continue to listen and learn?

We will hear some ideas and suggestions from those who are good at doing just that, as related by Jim Lyttle.  He is a former musical arranger interested in generating harmony (but never unison) among Earthlings.
